Sheriff Rex Conroy, Sr. took office in January of 2015.  He came into office with 25 years of law enforcement experience.  Sheriff Conroy has served as a police sergeant, police lieutenant, and police captain.  He also had previously served as the acting Chief of Police for the Oglala Sioux Tribal Department of Public Safety.

Sheriff Conroy is a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe and South Dakota Sheriffs’ Association.  Oglala Lakota County covers 2,097 square miles and has a population of 14, 118.
