Bill Stahl took office as Sheriff of Sully County in January 1991 and after this term will be tied with his predecessor as the longest serving Sheriff in Sully County. Sheriff Stahl was born and raised in Sully County and was involved in the family business, a restaurant and service station, until his election to the office of Sheriff. Sheriff Stahl is a member of the South Dakota Sheriffs’ Association and South Dakota Peace Officers Association as well as many local community organizations. As Sheriff of Sully County, Bill oversees two sworn deputies, one of which is a canine handler. Sheriff Stahl is married and has one son.
