David Ackerman was appointed to the position of Sheriff July 1 2007 and ran unopposed in the 2008 election. Prior to becoming Sheriff he worked for the McPherson County Highway Department and also part time for the Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy. Dave attended Law Enforcement Training in 1994 where he was employed by the City of Eureka and also worked city maintenance in addition to serving as a Police Officer. Sheriff Ackerman serves a county with an estimated population of 3000, has one full time deputy primarily assigned to the city of Eureka, and has one part time Deputy.  He enjoys serving on the Eureka Volunteer Fire Department, Eureka Volunteer Ambulance Service and other organizations, and enjoys spending time with his two children.
