Roger Hartman took office as Sheriff of Lake County in January 1999 and has been working in law enforcement for over twenty nine years. Sheriff Hartman served in the US Army from 1967 to 1975 and following that he worked for the State Penitentiary as a correctional officer, McCook County as a deputy sheriff, and Lake County as a deputy sheriff and chief deputy. Sheriff Hartman is a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, FOP, and the Blue Knights International Motorcycle Club. As Sheriff of Lake County, Roger oversees a staff of nine employees including three sworn deputy sheriffs and a twenty bed jail.
