Kevin Scotting became Sheriff of Kingsbury County in February of 2005, and has a law enforcement career covering more than twenty three years. Before becoming Sheriff he served as Chief Deputy in Kingsbury County for ten years, and was also a Deputy Sheriff in Hamlin County for six years, and Chief of Police in Hayti for three years. Sheriff Scotting is the Kingsbury County Deputy Coroner and has held that position for the past thirteen years, and was the Hamlin County Coroner for four years from 1990 to 1994. Kevin is on the Executive Board of the South Dakota Sheriff’s Association and is a member of the National Sheriff’s Association. Kingsbury County Sheriff’s Office provides contract law services to the cities of Arlington, De Smet, Lake Preston and Oldham. Sheriff Scotting oversees a staff of four full time deputies and a secretary/dispatcher. Kevin and his wife have three grown children and four grandchildren.
