Mark Kessler took office as the Sheriff of Hanson County in January 2003. Sheriff Kessler has been involved in law enforcement for over fifteen years, starting out as a reserve officer with the Spearfish Police Department then serving as a patrolman and corporal with the Mitchell Police Department before becoming a deputy with the Hanson County Sheriff’s Office. Mark holds a bachelors degree in communications from Black Hills State University. He is active in the community through membership in the Knights of Columbus, Maher Council, Gun Owners of America and serves as Chairman of the Hanson County Republicans. As Sheriff of Hanson County, Mark has one deputy to assist him in his duties. Mark is married and has three children
