Dan Mack took office as the Sheriff in January 1979 and has been serving
the citizens of Hamlin County for over twenty-seven years. Sheriff Mack
is an active member of the South Dakota Sheriffs’ Association,
Fraternal Order of Police, Ducks Unlimited, and the Hamlin County Sportsman’s
Club. Dan has served as a hunting safety instructor for the youth of
Hamlin County since 1981. Hamlin County is home to Lake Poinsett which
covers 8,000 square acres. As Sheriff of Hamlin County, Dan oversees
a staff of four employees including his wife, Louise, who serves as
the secretary/dispatcher and three full-time deputy sheriff.
