Tim Simonsen became Sheriff of Douglas County on March 16, 2004. Before
becoming certified in law enforcement, he worked part-time as a patrol
officer in Menno, SD. He was certified in 1989. Since then, he has worked
part-time for the Tripp PD. Tim served as the Chief of Police in Armour,
SD, for 12 years. He became a deputy in the Douglas County Sheriff’s
Department in June 2003. He was certified to teach D.A.R.E. in 2002.
He served in the US National Guard for 6 years and is currently a member
of the American Legion. Tim is also a volunteer for the Armour Fire Department.
