Darrell Miller took office as Sheriff of Brule County in January 1991
and has been serving in law enforcement for over nineteen years. Prior
to becoming Sheriff, Darrell was an officer with the Chamberlain Police
Department and the Upper Mississippi Wildlife Refuge in Minnesota. Sheriff
Miller possesses an associate degree in Natural Resources and in Law
Enforcement and is a certified National Park Service Ranger. He is active
in the community and many organizations including the Chamberlain Rodeo
Club, Trinity Lutheran Church, South Dakota Sheriffs’ Association
and the National Sheriffs’ Association. As Sheriff of Brule County,
Sheriff Miller oversees a staff of eleven including two sworn deputies
and a twenty bed jail.
