Mark Milbrandt started employment with the Brown County Sheriff’s
Office in May of 1979 as a part-time jailor. His employment with the
county turned fulltime later that same year. In May of 1980 he became
a uniformed patrol deputy sheriff and was assigned to that duty for a
year. In 1981 he became the Brown County Sheriff’s Office first
ever full time criminal investigator. In 1988 he was appointed as the
Chief Deputy Sheriff by then Sheriff Steve Oakes. In 1994 he ran for
the office of Sheriff and was elected to office that year. Sheriff Milbrandt
is now in his third term and oversees the Sheriff’s Office, adult
jail and as well as a juvenile detention center. Sheriff Milbrandt currently
has 50 full time employees under his supervision.
